So it's been a few days since I've posted and it was brought to my attention that at least a couple of people actually read this blog. Hello to you!

It's only about a 4 1/2 drive from Albuquerque to El Paso and, since it was Thursday and I didn't have to load till Friday afternoon, I didn't get in a big hurry to get there. So I found a Petro in El Paso, got a good parking spot and went to sleep! Took some pics, from the highway, of the U.S./Mexico border (Juarez, Mexico) with it's 15' fence and border patrol nearby. It's almost surreal to think that you live in a country and freedom and prosperity are a few hundred feet away and you can't reach it. The tall office buildings in El Paso, that face Juarez, are full of people who probably don't even think about what they're looking at..it's just scenery.

So anyway, I went to pick up my load at Delphi and signed in at 11:20am, but I didn't leave that place till almost 6:00pm!! That's right! 5 1/2 hours of staring at the El Paso International Airport watching planes take off and land. Why so long? I found out that Texas is a "union" state and those workers are (not only Mexican) union workers and they'll load you whenever they damn-well please!! One team-driver was parked nearby and had been there for over 5 hours and 3 1/2 of that was waiting on paperwork. He said they only loaded 6 pallets on the truck and the rest of the time was waiting on paperwork that was apparently tied up in customs.

Right, so I leave near 6pm and, since I didn't have to deliver the load, myself, till Monday at 6am, I decide this is cutting into my weekend...I'm going home!! So I drove north to Ruiodoso, NM and thru to Roswell (STILL haven't seen any spaceships!) and on to Clovis, Amarillo and then OKC. 676 miles (non-stop) and I actually got HOME at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. Sunset to sunrise...hope I never do that again!!
