Hey there. Well, I barely got any sleep during this last trip. After I unloaded in Hermitage, TN, I drove down to Cleveland, TN which is just northeast of Chattanooga...it was about a 3 hour drive there. I get to the store, take a nap and find out that my backhaul is out of Nashville and I have to be there by 4:00. So I get empty and haul ass to Sara Lee Bakery in Nashville. I get there at 3:30, sit for an hour, when this man comes up to my truck and asks if I'm there to pick up the bread racks. I tell him yes and he tells me that he's been waiting on me....at a different location! Great. So the lovely broker gave me the wrong address to go to (nevermind they've been brokering loads from the same place for a week) and the wrong contact number. Morons. So this man, Pete, gives me the choice of waiting till 8am the next morning, Friday, or loading it myself. So I called my dispatcher and tell him my dilemma, he makes a few calls and calls me back and says it's up to me, BUT, if I load the trailer, the broker will pay me $100!!
Well, money talks, and Pete said he would help me (although he didn't know I was gonna make extra money) and we could knock it out in a 1/2 hour. So we drive over to the other warehouse and get busy. Sure enough, in about 30 minutes, I was on my way outta there!
I drove to Jackson, TN and spent the night. I was tired and wanted to stop. Got up the next morning around 6:30 and got fueled and left. Drove thru a big rainstorm in eastern Oklahoma, but made it back to OKC around 4:30 that afternoon. Went home, showered and shaved and took my wife to dinner!
Tomorrow (Sunday) I load at Quad Graphics at 2:30 and take a load to The Rock, Ga. It's a "time-sensitive" load and I have to be there by 9pm Monday night! See ya there!!
